How To Dress Comfortably But Look Sexy

If you think you need to wear tortuously high heels, uncomfortably tight dresses, or worryingly short skirts to look sexy, think again. Many men find comfortable clothing to be as sexy, if not sexier than traditional seductive outfits, depending what you wear and how you wear it.

How To Dress Comfortably But Look SexyRemember that being sexy is more about how you feel as much as what you wear. If you’re wearing the perfect “sexy outfit” but don’t have confidence, or the belief that you are sexy, you’ll just be another girl in an outfit. Feel sexy inside and it will show on the outside as well.

If you want to look sexy for someone in particular, pay attention to his reactions when you wear different kinds of clothes that you feel good in, and wear outfits that get the type of reaction you’re looking for more often.

Here are some tips to start you off.

1

Soft Or Smooth Textures

Not everything has to be silk, but it’s a texture that men find quite sexy. Cashmere and other soft textures are more alluring than a scratchy woolen cardigan or rough cotton sweatshirt. Find out what textures he likes, and work with those as much as you can. Any texture that feels good to the fingers will work and be comfortable to wear. If you’re wearing one piece that’s more comfortable, such as a pair of jeans or a comfortable top, pair it with something that has a more sensual texture, such as a soft blouse or silky skirt.

2

Forget Fussy Clothing

Men don’t like the idea of having to be careful where they touch you, if they’ll break something you’re wearing, or can’t figure out just how to get it off! A simple dress will do more for a man than something with a lot of buttons, lace, or sequins. You can wear those kinds of clothes for yourself if you like, but don’t bother for your guy. The same goes for patterns. Loud, fussy patterns are usually more off-putting than something with less pattern and more style.

3

Color

In general, black or red clothes send a sexy message so choose these colors for comfortable clothes. You don’t have to go out dressed all in black or have a complete red outfit. You don’t want to look as if you’re headed to a funeral or work at the Moulin Rouge. Mix and match these colors in a classy way with other items in your wardrobe. For example, red shoes with a red scarf adds spice to a neutral outfit.

4

Longer Skirts

You might think that the mini skirt is the absolute sexiest skirt you can wear but it’s not the most comfortable, nor is it sexy unless you have the legs for one. Men like the idea of a little tease rather than getting the whole deal at a glance. If you’re more comfortable in a knee length or even longer skirt, go for that. You won’t have to worry about the skirt riding up and showing more than you’d like. This way, you control what he sees and can maneuver in such a way that he gets glimpses when you want him to. If you like minis and they suit you, you can make them easier to wear in winter by pairing with opaque black tights.

5

Wear Flats

While heels are super sexy and make your legs look good, they are not great unless you can walk properly in them and you don’t have to wear them all the time. Try a wedge or kitten heel to give yourself height with less chance of toppling over. Ballerina shoes, or sandals with a slight heel, or even Converse can be just as alluring as 4 inch heels with the right outfit you’ll be more at ease with yourself than you will if you are tottering about. That in itself is sexy. If you’re wearing open shoes, take care of and paint your toenails so your feet look good. Pretty toes are very sexy!

6

Avoid Skin Tight

Clothes should not pinch, ride up, block your air supply, or prevent you from eating a bit for fear your buttons will pop off. Skin tight is not comfortable at all and it is only sexy if you have the right body for it anyway. You can look just as sexy, if not more so wearing comfortably loose clothing. You don’t have to go to the other extreme and switch to baggy clothes.Skimming the body is best, showing your shape but not every bulge.

7

Best Assets

Find at least one body part (preferably more), that you’re very comfortable with and learn how to dress to show that off. To be comfortable accentuate one area at a time and make up the rest of your outfit with easy matching comfortable clothes. Wear a strappy top to accentuate your neck and arms, a pencil skirt to draw attention to your legs, a lowish neckline to show off a hint of great cleavage but not all three at once.

8

Underclothes

If you choose well-fitting sexy and matching underwear that doesn’t show under your clothes you will feel both comfortable and sexy. It’s hard to feel like your sexy self if you’re wearing your grungy granny panties or that white, plain bra, so find something that is both comfortable and looks good when you reveal all.

9

Skip The Bra

If you can possibly get away with it, go without wearing a bra to feel both comfortable and sexy when you’re at home with your guy. Even a comfortable baggy t-shirt will look sexy if he can see that you’re not wearing a bra. There’s something about the knowledge that he has “easy access” that makes you irresistible to him.

10

Choose Accessories With Care

You can use accessories just like clothes to accentuate your best features, but don’t overdo them. If anything makes you fidget then it’s not comfortable or sexy. For example, heavy earrings may draw attention to your beautiful neck but they will feel like they weigh a tonne at the end of a long day. Go for comfortable pieces that you love and that add personality to your outfit. Personality is always sexy.

11

Makeup

Adding a touch of makeup can make a more comfortable outfit into something classy and sexy. A touch of lipstick will add sex appeal, even if you’re just wearing a black dress. Eyeliner worn correctly also gives a sexy look. As with accessories, you don’t want to over do it. Sometimes, less is more. It’s not comfortable if you’re drinking a cup of coffee or glass of wine and worrying about your lips coming off on the cup or glass or if you think your makeup will come off on his shirt. And you definitely don’t want to give him a fright in the morning by wearing such a mask that you look like a different woman he got up with to the one he went to bed with, especially if you leave your face all over the pillow.

12

Hair

No matter what you wear, your hair plays a big role in your sex appeal. Keep it clean, well groomed, and styled and don’t load it with so much product that he can’t run his fingers through it. Many men find the neck to be quite sensual and react well to hair that is loosely pinned up, stray strands of hair only draw more attention to it. Avoid styles that you have to fuss over or severe styles that don’t look good if a hair is out of place.

Note from Ana: Writing this reminded me that my husband hates the texture of velvet and suede. I’ve never been able to wear them since I started going out with him, even though I think they are quite sexy fabrics…

I am such a low maintenance type of woman and most days at home you can find me in a tanktop and yoga pants. lazy I know. Honestly, my husband loves seeing me comfortable rather than all done up, especially if I am wearing one of his t-shirts which he finds incredibly sexy. I feel better in comfy clothes and they sure do come off a lot easier than tight fitting or high maintenance types of outfits. Makeup though…everyone looks great with a touch of makeup even if it’s just a quick eye liner and some lip gloss. Thanks for another great set of tips Ana! Loving your site!

Thanks Misty. Comfort wins for me every time too. I hate to feel constricted. And my pet hate is those clothes that have labels that are scratchy at the back of your neck. But I must confess I do have shoes in my collection that are what I call “taxi shoes” – they are no good whatsoever for walking any distance – stupid really.

I found this article really interesting Ana. My style of dressing has changed a lot from before children and I do agree that how you feel on the inside definitely affects how you look on the outside!

I’m super low-maintenance. I usually wear loose sweat pants or pajama pants and a random t-shirt or blouse. These are really great tips though! 🙂

Thanks for sharing Hilary. If you feel great in them as well as comfortable it’s all good. If you don’t, you can still get things that are low maintenance and look great 🙂 Don’t mind me, I’ve got this thing about making as much effort to look good for our partners (and if it comes to that, ourselves!) as we do for going out with our girlfriends. Most women make more effort for a night out with the girls than they do for their guy.
