Three Things For Friday

Three things that occurred to me this week from an original idea I read on Salma’s blog The Write Balance with her “Three Things Thursday”.

Three Little Things To Share

1

Kindle Silliness

Inspiration for Monday’s post came from a book I have had on my Kindle since December 2012 and only just opened. What can I say? I have thousands of free downloads in my Kindle archive from various free author promotions (in fact over 25,000!) as well as a whole heap of books I paid for.

I’ll never get through all those books in one lifetime and I won’t even try, but it’s like having a whole library of things to read and reference books at my fingertips, so I can do research on any subject or try out a new author with a couple of clicks whenever I like.

Every now and again I come up with a real gem that I wish I had opened sooner. It’s like a treasure trove in there.

My husband also has a Kindle, but he has about a hundred books on his that he has downloaded and read one at a time. He understands my Kindle addiction about as much as I understand his love of the World Cup when Scotland isn’t even playing in it. LOL

2

Overwhelm

I must be a bit of an electronic hoarder I reckon, because just like my Kindle, my PC hard drive is also stuffed with products I bought or free reports I downloaded and never used. At the back of my mind is the idea that I should be using all those things (though chances are that many of them are out of date by now).

The only way I ever seem to get away from being overwhelmed by it all is by reminding myself what my priorities are, and then all this “stuff” can be neatly put aside for now while I give someone a big hug.

3

Clothes

I’m no fashionista. In fact my closet could do with an overhaul. But I do get the importance of clothes – not so much because of how you look in them (though looking good is a great idea too), but because of how they make you feel about yourself. They show how you value yourself in many ways.

That’s why I worry about friends who don’t care what they wear. Do they think they aren’t worth the effort it takes to look good? Or are they so confident that they just don’t care about being attractive? I worry for them it’s the former.

And it’s also my excuse to go shopping as I did yesterday and treat myself to six tops, new undies, a skirt and some capri pants. They were all in the summer sales so it was a good haul with not too much strain on my credit card, but still, that’s what I call a shopping trip and a half LOL Quite often I spend a whole day and come back with one thing if I’m lucky.

Over to you: What things are going on in your world this week? Please share your thoughts in the comments below.

  1. I’m the exact same when it comes to eBooks on my Kindle–although mine is on my Android tablet and phone. I have a load of books and free reports in various places that I just haven’t opened. I keep meaning to, but, well there are only so many hours in a day.

Tried on all my new things today and realized that I now need a couple of things to go with them. This is how my wardrobe expands into a jumbled mess. I think I need a bit of planning there. Thanks for sharing Sophie.

I have a ton of books on Kindle and I need them when I buy them, but once I get what I need out of the content, I don’t bother reading the rest of the book. Sad, but true!

Clothes… I don’t do much clothe shopping right now, but when 100 pounds comes off, that’s a different story! I won’t charge, but I will definitely BLOW some cash that day! ๐Ÿ™‚

I have the kindle app on my phone and I really need to use it more! And good for you for spending some time shopping. I totally agree that looking good can make you feel good.

  5. I completely feel you on the electronic hoarding. Sometimes I log onto my computer and just feel anxiety from all the files and images, and I don’t even know where to start with organizing them!
Good reminder though that it’s not really a big deal if my PC documents aren’t all alphabetized and organized.
