Turn A Bad Day Into A Good One

All kinds of bad things may happen to good people at some point, but typical run-of-the-mill bad days are not full of disastrous events. Sometimes we just have one of those days when nothing terrible happens but little things that don’t go our way put us in a bad mood.

Snuggling Makes You Feel BetterWhen that happens you may be tempted to take out your bad mood on those around you, especially on those who are closest to you.

If you can find a way to turn your mood around without sniping at anyone, it will help to keep your relationships sweet, and help the five to one positive ratio you need.

So what can you do?

1

Listen To Music You Love

Just 15 minutes listening to your favorite music has been shown to have a positive effect on your mood.

2

Do Someone A Good Turn

Anything that you do for others will help you feel better. Make someone else’s day better and improve your own.

3

Understand The Cause

What is putting you in a bad mood? If it’s a task you don’t want to do, get it over with so you can come out the other side smiling. If it’s something that happened, put it in perspective. On a typical bad day, no one died or got fired, so there’s no point letting what happened affect your present, making things worse instead of better. If it’s something irritating that keeps recurring, think about how you can reduce the impact of the annoyance for the future.

4

Buy Yourself Some Flowers

Seeing those blooms will add a cheerful note to your day.

5

Go For A Walk Or Run

Exercise and fresh air are great for clearing your head, and they increase the concentration of good mood brain chemicals serotonin and norepinephrine.

6

Smile

Just putting a smile on your face (even when you don’t feel like it) can help improve your mood. And if you can manage it, have a good chuckle at the things that went wrong today.

7

Snuggle

Instead of complaining about your day, ask for a hug. Hugs are almost bound to make you feel better, and if your partner is not around, or you’re single, hug the dog or a friend or get yourself a giant soft toy or cuddly blanket and snuggle up with that. The power of snuggling cannot be overestimated.

I agree. Don’t take it out on anyone else. That’s why I just go for a long drive or take a long bath. IT’s always good to de-stress ๐Ÿ™‚
