This Week’s Three Things

Continuing my series of little things that happened or occurred to me that are not big enough for full blog posts, based on an idea I read here

Three Little Things To Share

1

Rush-Hour Crush

I was reading the little “Rush-Hour Crush” feature in the Metro, a free newspaper you find in buses, trains stations etc everywhere in the UK yesterday.

One of yesterday’s entries read

“To the Gwen Stacy lookalike. We sat opposite each other on the 5.34pm Haymarket to Glasgow train on Tuesday. We couldn’t stop looking at each other. Can I be your Peter Parker? Smart Specs Guy

I always feel compelled to look at this section of the paper, but it also makes me a bit sad that they didn’t speak up at the time and yet feel so strongly that they have to write to the newspaper.

If you see someone you like on the 5.43, please speak and find out if they like you back. Don’t write to the Metro about it. This is one of the reasons my next book will be about flirting with confidence…

Old Times

I was on the bus yesterday because I was meeting up with three old friends that I have known for over twenty years. I was just thinking that we have lasted longer than a lot of marriages. In fact, two of our group have been through divorces with one happily remarrying last year.

Are we more forgiving of our friends than our husbands, is it close proximity that kills a relationship or are we just nicer to the people we are not married to?

Maybe if people just got together every couple of weeks or months, had a great chat and a few (often too many) glasses of prosecco, lived separately and sex never entered the equation except as something you might occasionally, briefly talk about, it would all work better. It wouldn’t be much like a marriage though. ๐Ÿ™‚

Fair Weather Gardening

Finally, it’s that kind of “nearly summer” weather in Scotland when the rain is warmer and it’s sometimes even sunny. And the grass and weeds are growing like billy-yo.

I love to get out there in the garden when the air is feeling soft after a shower of rain and feel a bit on sun on my skin. It’s the only time I feel like doing anything outside with plants and flowers.

All that communing with nature makes me feel good, almost part of nature itself. Great for awakening all the senses and making you feel more sensual.

It’s all looking a bit gray and dull today so far. I hope the sun comes out and I can do a bit of weeding later!

  1. I feel it is the over exposure to the spouse when you live with a person, is how it makes the tolerance level lesser in married couples than in friends. There are certain habits and personality traits one reveals only when they are in such close proximity.

This is a neat idea! I often have thoughts that are not quite enough for a blog post. I agree 100% with number 1!!

It’s lovely to remember/ talk about old times.
I work in a residential home and I think it’s nice to reminisce with the residents!

That is very romantic that he wrote about there meeting in the paper, but you’re right he should have spoken up then and who knows what kind of real romance it could have been!
And it’s that time of year here in Canada too and we are going to be starting a vegetable garden. We finally have a backyard.

I like your three things series – always interesting and sometimes unusual observations. What fun. One of my three things this week is how connected and compatible a 67-year-old and a 7-year-old can be and how much fun they can have. Also, how much of my past life was such a waste of time and effort – wish I had that time back to be more attentive and willing to accomplish more. Obviously very pensive today. ๐Ÿ˜‰
