We all know that feeling of not getting enough sleep. Without plenty of rest, you feel exhausted, like you can’t drag yourself through the day, everything gets you down, sex is the last thing on your mind and you’re spoiling for a fight.
Not great is it when it comes to being a dream partner for the person you love?
Contrast that with a woman who is full of energy, ready to have all kinds of fun in the bedroom and outside it and who is feeling positive about her life and her relationship.
Isn’t it worth trying to get the extra hour or couple of hours you need every day for that?
I know it’s not always easy. I’ve had young kids too and babies that didn’t seem to care that I wasn’t getting my quota of shut-eye. Both of mine were ten-months old before they slept through the night. I’ve had a full-time job and stresses that kept me awake at night too. And believe me, I never want to go back to the time when the kids and the job stresses coincided…
But if you can do something about it, if you’re staying up late because you’re surfing the net or watching TV or reading, or you’re not taking naps when you could be, then for the sake of your relationship (and your health) shut down the PC, close your book and switch off that TV series you’re addicted to. And take naps whenever you can.
I have a habit of waking up really early these days – I’m talking 4 or 5 am.
That means I’m pretty tired early afternoon so I’ve started taking naps then if I need them and it has made a huge difference to how I feel in the evening when hubby is home. Less grouchy for a start!
Try it if it’s an option for you. Or maybe a few early nights are all you need – the TV, the book and the PC will all be there tomorrow.

I know how hard it is when you cannot sleep. I had a very bad insomnia for more that 4 years and I thank God every single day for my wondeful significant other who was there to support me day by day to this struggle. Thank you for all the advices!

This is totally true. I find I am much more sexually in the mood on the weekends when I am catching up on sleep, than during the week when I feel exhausted from work and getting up early.

Grumpy mornings or evenings are definitely not good – I know from experience although I am no longer married. It does help to get plenty of rest, but when you have young children that can be difficult. Good reminder to those who may need it.
Thanks Edie and of course enough sleep/grumpiness doesn’t just apply to relationships with a spouse but also our relationship with everyone we meet
